Wire security seals are high-tensile, disposable security fittings composed of a lock housing and steel wire cable. Removal can only be achieved by cutting the cable. They are used to seal shipping containers, tank trucks and valves during transit and storage, leaving clear, permanent visible marks of any unauthorised tampering.
Cable grommets, by contrast, are specialised rubber components engineered to provide dependable sealing and shielding for electrical wires that run through panels, equipment housings and connectors.
Core Structure And Material
1. Steel wire:
- Material: High strength galvanized steel or stainless steel (Grade 304/316 for excellent corrosion resistance).
- Diameter: Standard sizes are available such as 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm. The larger diameters give higher shear and tensile strength.
- Surface Finish: Smooth finish as standard, textured surface or specialist coating available on special models for improved anti-slip properties and corrosion resistance.
2. Lock head/body:
- Material: Tough engineering plastics (e.g. ABS, PC) or metals (die-cast zinc alloy, stainless steel).
- Locking Mechanism Internal, precision one-way lock structure (i.e. ratchet, spring loaded latch, steel ball catch).
- Marking Area: There is a large flat surface or recessed groove on the face of the lock body to allow for laser engraving or hot stamping of unique tracking data such as serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, company logos, etc.
